The model railway is the branch of the modellism that deals with the construction of reduced scale models railroads, rolling stock and all that has direct or indirect bearing on them. In 1992 the Transport Section of the Dopolavoro Ferroviario of Udine Railway presented “Live Steam”.
With this designation they identified a way of conceiving the model railway still little known in Italy. This kind of model allows playback of rolling stock on a scale so large as to allow the realistic operation of the locomotives and their “rideability”. Spectacular are the steam generators that actually work steam, but no less interesting are the reproductions of locomotives that run on battery electric motors.
Since then the “Live Steam” spread throughout Italy and circuits to run trains were built across all the peninsula.
